I texted Julia and her mother to see about the girls' interest and availability in attending the group outing planned for February. Juia is interested and available to go. It's hard for me to get ahold of Erica. With her phone situation, I never know if I am calling/texting her or her friend, so I reached out to her mom. Mom said that after talking with Erica, Erica expressed that she is no longer interested in the program. She feels she is too old to be around a bunch of younger kids, and there is nothing left for her to do or experience within the program that she hasn't already. Mom said that maybe Erica was worried about hurting my feelings. I told her that Erican should not be concerned about that and that I would call her to speak with her directly. When I was finally able to talk directly with Erica, she told me the same she had told her mother. She said all she wanted to do now in her spare time was hang with her friends. She's not interested in one-on-ones or group outings, even if they were only geared toward kids her exclusively her age, as that was something I offered to look into. I let Erica know that even outside of the program, she could always call me whenever she needed and I would be there for her. I told her my feelings were not hurt. I would miss her, but I understand at her age how being with her friends is important. Mom expressed wanting to now sign up the youngest daugher, Ava, for the program.
